The Basque Farmhouse Interpretation Centre created by Vilau in the Igartubeiti farmhouse-museum has been inaugurated

June 20th saw the presentation of one of most important projects carried out by Vilau in the area of museums: the Basque Farmhouse Interpretation Centre created next to the Igartubeiti farmhouse-museum in Ezkio-Itsaso (in the region of Gipuzkoa). Authorities from the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, owner of this historically significant museum complex, and various Basque museum representatives, among other personalities, took part in the inauguration.

The Interpretation Centre has been designed and carried out by Vilau, starting from an innovative proposal: to present the themes and history of Basque farmhouses in general, and the Igartubeiti farmhouse in particular, using audiovisual and multimedia formats which enable visitor interaction. Unlike traditional exhibition centres, which give the visitor a contemplative role, Vilau has developed a project that stands out for the innovative way in which contents are presented to the public.

The Interpretation Centre has three different areas: the recreational area, where videos and virtual reconstructions show us the different types of farmhouses and the traditional methods of making Basque cider, including also a zone for tasting this beverage; the reception area, where visitors are greeted by Kattalin, one of the inhabitants of the Igartubeiti farmhouse, who appears to us on a large screen; and the exhibition area, in which the public can discover, through audiovisuals, 3D reconstructions, information panels and photographic murals, the farmhouse inhabitants and neighbours, and also how they lived and worked.

Vilau has developed the entire project, from the conception of all the spaces, the creation of the narrative thread that guides the visitor to the Interpretation Centre, the creation of the audiovisual and multimedia contents or the decoration and lighting, to the technological integration of all the media and formats that make Igartubeiti a highly innovative exhibition centre.
